Jimi Hendrix is a legend in music and every guitar he has used runs up a huge sum at auctions. One guitar in particular has become legend in more ways than one. Jimi Hendrix performance back in March 1967 at the London Astoria where he was the opening act for the Walker Brothers was pegged as one of the greatest live performances of that time. He instructed his press officer to bring him lighter fluid. He was adamant to make his performance memorable and thus burned his guitar.
This Fender Stratocaster was the first but not the last guitar that Jimi Hendrix burned. It was auctioned off in 2008 for US$497,500.
